Hiking in the Redwoods

These pictures were taken in the backyard of where we stayed for the first ten days. They have a spring on their property in Trinidad and hiking trails right out their back door.

I was very excited to watch Abram as he saw a redwood tree for the first time. He kept looking up, and up, and up, and up. Finally he was looking straight up into the sky and even then it is hard to see the tops of some of these massive trees.

This place is so beautiful, and wet, and cool, and enchanting.

We picked several wild huckleberries, blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries.

This is Allison and her son, Micah Jude. A sweetheart with big blue eyes and curly, soft brown hair. You can keep up with this adventurous family who is following the Lord to Niger, Africa here.

I'm Back!

Okay, after a month hiatus, I'm back. We had a wonderful trip to California to visit friends and our old stomping grounds. Here is one photo from the trip to whet your appetites. These first few days back have been filled with unpacking, cleaning, and rearranging. I don't know why, but coming home from a big trip and trying to put things back where they go has inspired me to change my organization...kick it up a notch, if you will.... Does that ever happen to you? Where you find you've been living with some order and organization but when you add new to the old it all goes it the window and you have to create a new system? That's my life anyway...compounded by our tiny living space and my drive to have less clutter about. This is, in part, reason for my delay on this blog. I've been reorganizing photos. I really want to do more video and family films. What keeps me from plowing into this work? I haven't decided a method of organization yet. Might seem silly, I know. But, good advice tells me "Start with the end in mind." I've found this to be true time and time again.

Anyway, enough babbling.

This photo is taken in Trinidad, CA behind the lighthouse. You're looking at Indian Beach and Camel Rock in the background. Humboldt County is as beautiful as we remember it.

Sorry Charlie...

I want to be posting...I really do...but I'm having too much fun and we're jam-packed with the visiting festivites and Humboldt County lovin that I haven't been able to sit down and attach photos and write about life. Sorry. I'll most likely end up writing a ton when I get home and will post pictures then. Thank you for your patience. Love.

My Favorite Project

I made this "Activity Mat" for Abram to bring on our trip to California. I saw something similar on my favorite website, Etsy.com and rather than buying one, I made my own.

It is full of different textures and colors. And the ribbons can and will be used for those plastic "link-a-doos" thingies.

The back side is a super soft flannel.

Note for Facebook users: this is the project I was so in love with that I stayed up until wee hours of the morning working on it.

Baby Prezzie

Made a "taggie blanket" for little Micah Jude. It was a replica of the one made for Abram by my dear Sara. I don't leave the house without it nowadays as it has become Abram's favorite toy. I hope Micah enjoys it as much Abram loves his.

And the winner is....

Congratulations to....

Allison, Donnie, and Micah Hebert!!!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. They were all very sweet and encouraging. Blogging is one of those crazy things where you put a lot of effort into it and you never really know who reads it and who cares. There are times when a blogger can think, "Is all of my effort in vain?" But little things like this give away gives me fortitude to keep on blogging.

Believe it or not, the Hebert's were the first to comment. You never think you'll win when you leave the first comment....but sometimes life surprises you. I used random.org to pick the winner...so I believe it was fairly fair.

I'll do another one soon...so keep coming back.
