Our New Bed

Eight years ago I was in Colorado at my mom's house for Christmas. One evening I was perusing catalogs and stumbled upon a bookcase bed that I immediately fell in love with. I kept the catalog and hoped in my heart that my future husband would build it for us someday. Late last night, we moved Tom's masterpiece from the garage into our bedroom. It has been two weeks in the making...eight years in the waiting.

It is beautiful...so much better than the catalog offered. More than that, it was made with great love and much prayer. Eight years later...I can definitely say it was worth the wait.

It is built out of blue-stained pine. It is a locally grown and milled. Rumor is the blue stain in the grain is from a fungus (which is dead and no longer growing). It has a unusual and rustic look to it. I LOVE IT!

The view from Coit Tower, SF.

Reunited...

...and it feels so good! Here I am in San Francisco with my good friend Debbie. We met in high school and did some traveling together over the years. She was in my wedding. There was a time when we were as close as sisters. We lost touch for several years and I made several vain attempts googling her name but never got anywhere. Thankfully, through her mother, I was able to track her down. We caught up over lunch together at a Thai restaurant in SF and then walked through Buena Vista Park which overlooks the entire city. A beautiful day!
