Leaving Eureka was hard in many ways. I knew we were saying goodbye to many people, places, and things that we had grown to love. Before I got to this farm I always thought about how I would update my blog a few times a week with interesting happenings from our lives. AND LOOK AT ME NOW! It's just about been one whole month! Dialup nightmare land is over and I am so thankful. You never realize how much of your life is electronic until it is gone. And I'm not just talking about the fluff on Facebook or perusing Amazon.com. But for our family, we've grown to love internet banking, paperless statements, etc. These things are hard to do on dialup. So, to spare the details...we've tried everything they offer for rural folk and finally landed on the Verizon data card. It works exceptionally well out here. In fact, it works great in the big house for Tom and Linda...with no metal roof. And it works great most of the time for us since we not only have a metal roof, but we have metal sides as well. Yes, that is right...we are living in a metal barn. But Thomas (his new name since arriving to Texas) is determined to place an antenna on our roof and try to strengthen our signal. We ended up buying a new desktop computer (an iMac--- soooooooooooooo glad we made the switch!) or else we'd be able to just go outside and sit on our porch to get business done. We thought about trading it in for a laptop...but this big screen is just too cool.
